Stay Cool & Keep Warm! - Kevin
His roots are in the Maritimes (his parents and grandparents hail from Newfoundland & Cape Breton) but Kevin Head's music career was born in Ontario where he attended school and honed his musical abilities playing in folk clubs as well as in a few bands in the Halton Hills areas in the late sixties/early seventies.
After a brief stint in Montreal performing in various coffeehouses like the Yellow Door, and other folk venues, Kevin was drawn to the Maritimes where he began his full time career as a songwriter and performer. It was there he recorded his first LP "No Frills", with his band and several guest musicians. During this period Kevin toured extensively throughout the Maritimes as a solo artist, band leader and as an actor with the Neptune Theatre.
He returned to Ontario, where he performed in many shows, festivals, acted on stage with the NAC and even hosted a local cable entertainment program. He also recorded two more full length albums/CDs of original material. His 1997 release "Hear them Calling" garnered a good deal of radio airplay, and his most recent CD was recorded with a full band, live in Gananoque and released in 2013.
Kevin always has several projects on the go. Lately he has been performing a good deal in a duo he formed with his wife Vanessa, called "Head Over Heels”, and they recently completed a very successful cross-Canada train tour as part of VIA Rail's “Artist On Board” program. They are currently working on material to record for a duets CD. Kevin also plays in the Kingston area with the “Bob Robertson Trio”, has hosted a number of Bluebird North-styled songwriter's circles with guest artists like Rick Fines, Dean Mactaggart, Lynn Myles, Russell deCarle and many more, and has been called upon to back up other performers with his sensitive acoustic and electric guitar playing.
